We were appointed by GL Events to deliver the complete refurbishment and reconfiguration of the Villa Park stadium, home of Aston Villa FC’s main Event Control Area.

This involved transforming a series of redundant corporate hospitality boxes into a modern, fully integrated operational hub designed to support match day safety, coordination, and event management.

The existing spaces, which were no longer being utilised to their full potential, were stripped back and entirely reconfigured. Our scope included spatial redesign, infrastructure upgrades, and the installation of new services and technology to create a highly functional environment for safety officers, stewarding teams, emergency services representatives, and event management personnel. The redesigned layout maximises visibility, communication efficiency, and workflow, ensuring all operational teams can collaborate effectively in real time.

A key challenge throughout the project was delivering the works within a live venue environment. The stadium continued to host fixtures and events during the refurbishment, requiring meticulous planning, phased programming, and close coordination with the club, stakeholders, and other contractors. Our approach prioritised health and safety, minimised noise and disruption, and maintained full operational readiness at all times.

Through detailed scheduling, flexible working hours, and proactive communication, we successfully completed the transformation without impacting scheduled games or ongoing events. The result is a purpose-built, future-ready Event Control Area that significantly enhances match day safety, organisation, and overall operational efficiency.
